On Saturday, February 25, 2023, I.M.A.M. facilitated a Sunni-Shia gathering to continue SSAF efforts and serve the unity of Muslim umma.
I.M.A.M. welcomed more than twenty Imams and religious leaders from both Sunni and Shia communities in the Detroit metro area with the presence and participation of two distinguished guests, Imam Mohamed Magid, the Executive Imam of ADAMS Center, Sterling, Virginia, and Dr. Sayyid Sulayman Hassan, Imam of al-Asr Islamic Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia.
A brief documentary on the SSAF project was presented to start the conference. Co-Chair Imam Elahi then welcomed everyone on behalf of the council and thanked I.M.A.M. for sponsoring the event and for their tireless efforts to promote unity. He went on to facilitate participant introductions where they discussed their Islamic Center and Masjid affiliations as well as projects they are currently working on.
The attendees listened to the guest speakers as they shared their insights on how to use various examples and techniques to foster harmony and unity within the community.
The nearly four-hour discussion came to a successful conclusion with a strategy for action and a great deal of optimism for the future of the Muslim Umma.
